How can osteopathy help?
Osteopathy is a form of healthcare that’s built on a simple but powerful idea: the body is designed to function as a whole, and when everything is working together well, it has a strong ability to heal itself.
It was founded in the late 19th century by Andrew Taylor Still, an American physician who became frustrated with the limitations of medicine at the time. He believed that instead of just treating symptoms, practitioners should focus on understanding the underlying causes of pain and dysfunction. His approach emphasised the relationship between the body’s structure (bones, muscles, joints, and tissues) and its function (how everything moves and works together). That philosophy still sits at the heart of osteopathy today.
A lot of people think osteopathy is only for “bad backs” or spine issues, but that’s not the case!
Osteopath’s treat a wide variety of injuries outside of the spine, including carpal tunnel, achilles tendinitis and tennis elbow.
